Team EUSSC has proved itself to be one of the most successful snowsports clubs in the UK, claiming podiums in every major competition in the university snowsports calendar last year and this year we intend to do the same. Despite our team's successes, there are no trials or required level of ability and our doors are open to anybody that would like to hit the slopes with us. We pride ourselves on our team spirit, and the manner in which racers and freestylers are part of the same supportive team.

While competing and training is open to anyone in the club, we recommend that you join the training programme. You can even just ski recreationally. The joining fee is £90 on top of your membership but you will literally save hundreds of pounds and get the most out of Team EUSSC. This fee includes:

  • 8 Hillend sessions for racing and 8 Bearsden sessions for freestyle

  • Weekly, heavily subsidised training sessions around Scotland, including the highlands! (snow permitting...)

  • Race and freestyle coaching

  • Post-training food at our sponsor venue

  • Free equipment rental for training and competitions

  • Competition entries (worth a lot!)

  • Transport to all university competitions throughout the year

  • Team EUSSC competitors T-shirt

  • Subsidised competitors meals

  • The opportunity to head out to the Alps with the team on BUCS Main Event

  • Access to the Main Event Competitors' Fund

Performance Training

We are lucky enough to be supported by The University of Edinburgh's Team Performance Programme. This allows our top athletes to access facilities such as Strength & Conditioning sessions. Places on the programme are limited, if you are interested you should contact Sofia or James.

With Hillend on the doorstep - offering the longest and steepest dryslope skiing in Europe - we're in the perfect place for those of all abilities looking to take their skiing to the next level!

Our team has some of the best racers in the UK who compete at a national level, as well as many first time racers who fell in love with the sport at university. We offer structured training sessions with drills, coaching, slow motion video analysis and our race mates initiative to try pair up novice racers with our experienced competition veterans.

This year we are planning on running weekly Hillend sessions first semester with an additional fortnightly trip to Braehead snow-dome in Glasgow. Second semester our focus is on indoor training in Glasgow as we look towards our British indoor finals and snow based competitions.

In 18/19 we took part in a record number of competitions, had more novices on the podium than ever before and we were the 2019 BUCS Main Event overall winners!

If you’re looking to hit your first gate or make that step up onto podium then come on down to training and meet the team!

We run regular coached freestyle training sessions for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Even if you’ve never tried freestyle but always wanted to, come along and have a go! A lot of our members come to us as experienced skiers but new to flips and tricks, and we think that your time with EUSSC is the perfect opportunity to try. We cater for anybody that wants to hit the slopes on a regular basis!

In first semester, we are lucky enough to train at the Bearsden dry slope in Glasgow, one of the best freestyle slopes in the UK. It has both a small and big jump to cater to all abilities, as well as a quarter-pipe. This gives us hours of joy and tips from the experts in the run up to SUDS and the BUDS, our two dry slope competitions. These are some of the highlights of the year, for spectators and competitors alike!

After SUDS and BUDS, we continue the action every week at various slopes in Scotland, be it Glasgow’s Snow Factor, Bearsden or in the snowy Highland mountains. Come second semester, we hold weekly training sessions at the indoor ski slope in preparation for our competitions on snow, culminating in the championships out in the Alps over Easter.

We are lucky enough to have the Highlands on our doorstep, and so we run weekend or day trips to the mountains throughout the winter, for both freestyle and freeride competitions. This includes the Scottish Freedom Series, bringing the “one team one dream” spirit to the couloirs and ridges of the snowy Scottish mountains.

As well as ski based trainings, we also take opportunity of our close proximity to Ryze, the trampoline park just outside of Edinburgh. Here, you can get the chance to hone new tricks before you try them out on the slopes. We also run weekend trips down to Manchester to the legendary Graystone Action Sports Academy.

There are several competitions throughout the year on dryslopes, at snowdomes and of course in the Alps.

SUDS - The Scottish University Dryslope Championships - Bearsden

Run by SUSC Events, SUDS is a display of Scottish unis talent in a super chilled and friendly atmosphere.

The Dryslope Champs (aka BUDS) - Hillend

Taking place right on our doorstep, the DCs see thousands of students from snowsports clubs around the UK descend on Edinburgh for a wild weekend of big competitions and even bigger parties. A mix of raw competitiveness and festival vibes, the DCs are not to be missed!

Dome Series

Beginning with the Scottish qualifying round at Snow Factor in Glasgow and continuing to the Dome Finals in Castleford, this is the first opportunity of the year to compete on snow, albeit in a snow dome.

BUCS Main Event in the French Alps!

The challenge for the overall BUCS trophy comes down to this Easter week in the Alps. All the practice at the other competitions leads up to this where everyone finally proves themselves on the mountain. Be ready for first lifts and last orders in this exhaustingly brilliant week of competition.
